Her take on style?
It’s a form of self-expression.
Developing your style is like your brandmark; it’ll get you noticed and remembered.
Fashion bestows authority and power on the wearer: Dress to impress, and you’ll be taken seriously.
Great style says, “Here I am! Pay attention to me! I value myself enough to put effort into this and you should, too.”
Defining your individual style is a way to highlight your creativity and personality through fashion.
Here are some tips to help you develop your style:
Consider your style now. What themes do you notice? Do you have a lot of a particular color, fabric or style? Also ask those closest to you how they see your style and what they think looks fabulous on you.
Evaluate what’s in your closet. Try to figure out if there is another way you can wear your current clothes to make it fit more with your new style. For instance, adding a funky belt or putting an old item with a new one can really transform your look. And if you have anything in your closet you don’t think will work with your new style, start a donation pile and get rid of those unwanted items.
Decide what style you mainly lean toward. For example, it could be classic, preppy, boho chic or sophisticated. When you have a style in mind that you feel best in and love wearing, start rethinking your wardrobe. Think about how you can make new combos with what you have to get the style you want. And when shopping for new clothing, buy things that will accentuate that style.
Confidence is key. Style is all about confidence and that happens when you feel fabulous in what you’re wearing.
Other tips:
Invest in the best whenever you can. When it comes to classic pieces like a white blouse, black slacks, dark-washed jeans, buy the best you can afford because they will last a long time.
Know the power of accessories. They can turn a drab outfit into a fab one just like that!
Comfort is important as well. You don’t want to be walking around in too-tight shoes and jeans cutting your circulation off!
Don‘t take fashion so seriously. Discovering your sense of personal style can sometimes mean breaking the fashion rules so have fun with it.
